As an Operations Procurement Manager within our Carrier Procurement division in Brokerage, you will oversee all procurement activities. This includes sourcing new carriers, managing bids, and selecting the most suitable carriers. You will also lead a team of procurement managers, working closely with customers and account managers to devise procurement strategies that align with service and cost objectives. Your Daily Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the key link between carrier operations management and RXO associates, collaborating with all business functions.
  • Guide mode-specific teams of procurement managers, establishing performance goals and providing ongoing feedback.
  • Oversee all procurement activities for designated modes across various accounts.
  • Develop strategies for mode purchasing and leveraging; initiate key projects, best practices, and processes within the team.
  • Support the acquisition of new customers and the growth of existing accounts.
  • Work with Customer and Account Management teams to create solutions that meet service and cost requirements.
  • Evaluate carrier rates and KPIs; analyze rates and make award decisions in line with the overall sourcing strategy.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of all lanes and rates to ensure fairness.
  • Propose cost-saving strategies that benefit both our customers and carriers.
  • Negotiate volume discounts with carriers when applicable.
  • Prepare bids and quotes for domestic and international shipments; analyze job costs to ensure profitable margins.

Qualifications for Success:

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the transportation or logistics sector.

It would be advantageous if you also possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5 years of experience in carrier procurement with a focus on carrier rate negotiations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of carrier operations, including FTL and LTL.
