Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Cement Terminal Operations Assistant at our terminal.

Heidelberg Materials North America, formerly known as Lehigh Hanson, operates over 450 locations with a workforce of approximately 9,000 employees across the U.S. and Canada.

The terminal is in search of a dedicated and hardworking individual to join the team.


This position will report directly to the Terminal Supervisor and will involve various responsibilities related to shipping, bulk loading, and packing operations.

Be engaged in all facets of daily terminal operations.

Participate in the loading and unloading of cement products from railcars and bulk trucks;

coordinate bulk loading activities with customer drivers and sales personnel.

Inspect railcars and bulk trucks prior to loading.

Operate track mobile or car puller to position railcars for unloading or to switch tracks.

Control the conveyance of cement to bulk silos or bulk trucks.

Ensure accurate fulfillment of customer orders and address concerns promptly, escalating complex issues to the supervisor.

Complete shipping and receiving documentation accurately and in a timely manner.


Responsible for unloading and transferring bulk materials or cement products from railcars and trucks to silos or storage containers.


Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on terminal equipment, including tasks at heights of up to 100 feet.

Maintain cleanliness of the facility.

Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Promote safe work practices and contribute to a safe working environment through weekly safety meetings and job pre-work analyses.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operations.

Maintain vendor relationships.

HERE'S WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Previous experience in the cement or related industry is advantageous

Prior experience in material handling is strongly preferred

Proven mechanical and electrical skills; welding experience is a plus

Strong organizational abilities

Effective communication skills

Technical proficiency with hardware and software, including MS Office and SAP preferred

Clerical skills are a plus

Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed

Able to access heights, including railcars and silo tops

Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds regularly

Demonstrated commitment to safe working practices in a team setting.

External candidates must be eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship.
