Supervises: Up to 25 staff members

Compensation: $20.00/hr

Work Schedule: 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm (M-F) and 11:30 am - 8:00 pm (M-F)

Position Overview: The Lead Custodian at Guadalupe Centers is tasked with managing the custodial team's cleaning operations within the organization's facilities. This position encompasses both supervisory responsibilities and the training of new personnel in effective custodial practices, including the utilization of cleaning tools, machinery, and agents. The Lead Custodian is crucial in upholding cleanliness and safety standards throughout the facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Supervision:
  • Oversee and guide a team of custodial staff.
  • Plan and allocate daily cleaning assignments to optimize team performance.
  • Provide orientation and training for new custodial employees.
  • Assist management with timekeeping and attendance verification.
Cleaning Operations:
  • Execute and supervise routine cleaning activities, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
  • Organize and carry out scheduled deep cleaning initiatives.
  • Ensure the overall cleanliness of the facility is maintained.
Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct regular evaluations to verify compliance with cleaning standards.
  • Address any cleaning deficiencies promptly and implement necessary improvements.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the premises.
Inventory and Supplies Management:
  • Oversee the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure custodial staff have access to required tools and materials.
  • Coordinate with procurement for supply orders as necessary.
  • Assist in the distribution of custodial supplies and equipment.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare and submit reports regarding cleaning activities and supply usage.
  • Document any equipment issues or maintenance requirements.
Training and Development:
  • Provide continuous training on cleaning techniques and safety protocols.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions to share and gather information.
  • Encourage a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Enforce safety measures and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Promptly report and address any safety concerns.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of cleaning methodologies, equipment, and supplies.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Experience in leadership and team management.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Bilingual proficiency is required.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position include the ability to perform manual labor, such as climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for extended periods. Candidates must be able to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted and operate various hand and power tools. Exposure to various environmental conditions may occur.
