Middle School Assistant Principal

Primary Objective:
Oversee and coordinate designated aspects of the educational program and campus management. Provide leadership in instructional practices to uphold high standards of educational service and facilitate the execution of district policies. Manage campus activities effectively while adhering to district regulations and relevant laws.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree
Valid Texas principal certificate or equivalent
Certified appraiser for the Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Comprehensive understanding of campus operations
Proficient in curriculum and instructional methodologies
Ability to assess instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
Capability to manage budgets and personnel
Skill in implementing policies and procedures
Ability to analyze data
Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Minimum of two years as a classroom educator
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership:
Promote and support the development of innovative instructional programs, assisting educators in piloting such initiatives when suitable. Engage in program evaluation and recommend enhancements as necessary.
Reinforce performance expectations for staff concerning instructional strategies and classroom management. Cultivate collegiality and teamwork among staff members, encouraging their involvement in decision-making processes.
School Improvement:
Take a proactive role in planning initiatives and executing programs to achieve the school's mission.
Collaborate with staff, parents, and community stakeholders in developing campus improvement plans.
Student Management:
Serve as a behavioral coordinator in alignment with state regulations.
Collaborate with faculty and students to create a discipline management system that fosters positive behavior and enhances the school environment.
Ensure equitable application of school rules and appropriate discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
Conduct discussions regarding student and school matters with parents, students, and educators.
Guarantee adequate supervision of students during non-instructional periods.
Administrative and Fiscal Management:
Supervise campus operations in the absence of the principal.
Lead the planning and scheduling of daily school activities, including class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities.
Monitor student attendance and collaborate with staff to address any issues.
Work with department heads and faculty to prepare annual budget requests based on documented needs.
Manage requisition of supplies, textbooks, and equipment while maintaining inventory per district guidelines.
Coordinate operational support services such as transportation and custodial services to meet campus requirements.
Adhere to district policies, state and federal regulations impacting schools.
Personnel Management:
Observe and evaluate employee performance, documenting observations and conducting evaluation meetings. Assist the principal in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new staff.
Community Relations:
Communicate the school's mission to the community and seek support for its realization.
Demonstrate awareness of community needs and initiate activities to address those needs, employing effective techniques to foster community and parental involvement.
Other Responsibilities:
Adhere to district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversee and assess the performance of professional staff as designated by the school principal. Direct the work of teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical staff, and others as assigned.

May require prolonged or irregular hours; work indoors and outdoors, exposure to noise; occasional travel.

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Salary Range:
$66,645 - $98,319
