Position Overview:

The Vascular Sonographer is responsible for delivering high-quality ultrasound imaging services to patients as per physician directives. This role involves preparing ultrasound facilities and diagnostic apparatus, executing tests with precision, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols while developing imaging films. The professional will exercise sound judgment and maintain ethical standards in all diagnostic procedures, while also applying developmental knowledge to cater to the specific needs of patients across various age groups. Confidentiality for both patients and staff is paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostic Imaging: Conducts ultrasound examinations by following clinical protocols and positioning patients to optimally visualize the anatomical areas of interest. Ensures high-quality imaging by evaluating technical aspects and maintaining accurate patient identification. Provides education tailored to the age-specific needs of patients and fosters cooperation to alleviate any anxiety related to procedures. Confirms the appropriateness of the procedure by reviewing physician orders and addresses any discrepancies directly with medical staff.
  • Data Management: Accurately inputs patient data into the departmental computer system, ensuring all information is up-to-date and correct. Manages patient check-ins for radiological procedures and oversees the completion of patient imaging tasks as per departmental guidelines.
  • Client Relations: Delivers prompt and expert service to patients, physicians, and colleagues in a courteous manner. Communicates effectively about any delays and maintains a patient-centered approach throughout all interactions. Ensures comprehensive patient care by managing preparation, scheduling, and education regarding various procedures.
  • Safety Protocols: Adheres strictly to established safety guidelines and procedures to protect both patients and staff. Conducts necessary equipment checks prior to use and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. Observes patients during procedures and promptly reports any unusual occurrences or changes in condition to the appropriate personnel.
  • Professional Conduct: Arrives punctually for shifts, maintains a clean and organized work environment, and actively participates in team efforts to enhance operational efficiency. Engages in ongoing training and development initiatives as needed and communicates any concerns to management.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in ultrasound imaging.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Licensure and Certification:

Candidates must possess at least two of the following certifications:

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Breast
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Abdomen
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Ob-Gyn
  • Registered Vascular Technician Certificate from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
  • Basic Life Support Certification

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, including radiation safety and infection control practices.
