Job Summary

ASM Global is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineer 2 to join our team at the Broward County Convention Center. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating the physical plant, ensuring the successful production of events, and providing supervision and guidance to maintenance staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment, plumbing, electrical, heating, and cooling units.
  • Perform all necessary mechanical maintenance and operational procedures to ensure maximum life and reliability to all mechanical systems.
  • Operate central HVAC equipment and mechanical equipment using sound engineering practices.
  • Trouble-shoot electrical and pneumatic problems and repair them in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in checking and making minor repairs on general plumbing systems, fixtures, and kitchen equipment.
  • Work on preventative maintenance and energy conservation.
  • Accountable for maintaining building and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security, and asset protection.
  • Establish and maintain tool and repair parts inventory.
  • Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner and communicate work order status via tablet device or paperwork.
  • Monitor and operate energy management system, mechanical, emergency, structural, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, general equipment, and other operating systems as required.
Requirements
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited technical school with specialized training in HVAC and/or maintenance.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the operation and maintenance of a public assembly, hotel, or other commercial facility.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the operation and maintenance of a public assembly, hotel, or other commercial facility.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
  • EPA universal and small appliance certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of major facility systems such as HVAC, electrical, security, mechanical, and fire safety.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and motivate the activities of maintenance staff.
  • Working knowledge of computer-controlled systems.
  • Ability to communicate on a technical level as needed to maintain facility operating systems.
  • Proficient computer skills to operate BMS/other automated systems.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk extensively, occasionally required to kneel, climb to high walkways or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms. This position requires work inside and outside of the building and some exposure to adverse conditions.
