About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Safety Officer to join our team at Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of employees, the general public, and the environment through the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive Radiation Safety Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Steward the site's Broad Scope Radioactive Materials Program, Accelerator Program, and Radiation Generating Device Program.
  • Perform preliminary reviews of proposed new uses and users of radioactive materials and formally discuss the proposal with the RSC for approval.
  • Perform audits of all areas of use and individuals who are authorized to use byproduct material to ensure work is done in accordance with the license, regulations, and user permit conditions.
  • Supervise the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) team.
  • Assist with managing the non-ionizing radiation safety program.
  • Provides supervision, leadership, and direction to the radiation protection and environmental safety technicians.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in physics, Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or closely related field.
  • 5+ years of related RSO or RPM experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification as a Radiation Safety Officer or significant progress towards formal training certification. NRRPT or CHP is desired.
