Job Overview:
This role is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors within the healthcare environment. Alongside the responsibilities of a Security Officer, this position offers specialized support by managing a specific program or area of expertise, such as Canine Operations or Safety and Preparedness initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts regular patrols throughout the facility, including external areas and parking lots.
  • Familiarizes with and enforces organizational policies and safety protocols.
  • Responds swiftly to emergency calls, assesses situations, gathers pertinent information, resolves conflicts, and completes necessary documentation.
  • Provides assistance and information to patients, visitors, staff, and volunteers during rounds.
  • Investigates incidents and prepares comprehensive reports.
  • Trains fellow officers and staff in relation to specialized areas.
  • Manages a designated program or specialty as directed by leadership.
  • For those supporting Canine Programs, responsibilities may include:
    Maintaining crowd control with canine units, patrolling the facility, and conducting drug searches as needed.
  • Ensures a minimum of 250 hours of annual training for canine units.
  • Responsible for the overall care and upkeep of the canine.
  • For those supporting Safety, Preparedness, or Regulatory Compliance, duties may include: Leading and coordinating emergency preparedness drills, following up on corrective actions post-drill, creating and enhancing the facility's emergency plan, coordinating grants, and engaging with community emergency response groups. Participates in various committees related to safety and emergency preparedness.
  • For those supporting Investigations, responsibilities may include:
    Conducting thorough investigations that require more extensive work than standard security incident reports, investigating controlled substance irregularities, interviewing individuals, and liaising with Internal Audit, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • At least one year of experience in law enforcement or security services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in de-escalating high-stress situations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in healthcare settings or with regulatory organizations.
Physical Requirements:
Includes activities such as carrying, climbing, listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, and walking.
