About the Role

The City of Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to fill the position of Chief of Child Welfare Services.

This is a key leadership role that requires a strong passion for ensuring the wellbeing of children and families, as well as a proven track record of success in leading teams and driving system improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Child Welfare Services office and collaborate with other partners in child welfare, including Courts, schools, and community agencies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase children's safety and well-being in the city.
  • Oversee the work of several direct staff, including two Program Managers and a Quality Assurance FSSIII Position, and 50 indirect-report staff.
  • Work closely with the Center Director for Children and Families and the Department of Community and Human Services to advance racial equity and address historical racism in the child welfare system.
