Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate care to patients and clients, ensuring a positive experience for all.
  • Conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner, even in high-pressure situations.
  • Maintain accurate and legible medical records, adhering to hospital policy and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
  • Perform physical assessments, record observations, and provide effective restraint for pets.
  • Stay up-to-date on common vaccines and vaccination protocols, and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Understand the importance of a clean and orderly facility, taking initiative to clean and organize as needed.
  • Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, providing excellent teamwork and communication.
  • Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients, ensuring transparency and understanding.
  • Explain necessary follow-up and homecare instructions to clients, ensuring they are well-informed and empowered.
  • Care for surgical materials and equipment, and maintain the operating room for surgery.
  • Set up clinical laboratory procedures, maintain lab test results, and record patient records.
  • Effectively position for and take radiographs, ensuring high-quality images.
  • Understand the use and care of IV pumps, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Admit and discharge patients according to hospital policy and veterinarian's orders, ensuring patient well-being and safety.
  • Perform minimal receptionist duties as needed, providing excellent customer service.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 18 years old.
  • Enjoy working with animals, and be able to handle them in stressful situations.
  • Remain calm and efficient during medical crises, prioritizing patient care.
  • Communicate effectively, approaching job duties in a mature and professional manner.
  • Support and contribute to a team environment, working collaboratively with all levels of hospital staff.
  • Perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and restraining animals (with assistance from other staff members for animals over 40 lbs).
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, standing or walking for extended periods, and frequently bending or squatting.
  • Be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces, as well as potential bites, scratches, and contagious diseases.
  • Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of animal care and handling.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a busy environment.
  • Patience and a love for animals.
