About the Role

Marketo, an Adobe Company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide exceptional legal and business support to our Adobe Experience Manager business unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and launch of new technologies and product offerings by providing practical advice and identifying and resolving legal issues related to privacy, intellectual property, go-to-market strategies, and license compliance.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including product marketing, product management, engineering, technical operations, pricing, packaging, and sales, and advise multiple levels of management on legal matters.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts in our legal department to analyze legal risks and support the business.
  • Draft, negotiate, and supervise a wide range of agreements, including technology licenses, product documentation, and partnership agreements.
  • Oversee product launch processes, including technology release checklists and questionnaires.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and necessary bar membership.
  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in software licensing, cloud-based services, or product development.
  • Strong knowledge of privacy and data security issues and compliance.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, particularly in transactional agreements.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to frame complex legal issues and communicate effectively with multiple levels of management.
  • Technical background in software products and development, SaaS, or cloud-based services is a plus.
  • Proven creative problem-solving capabilities, good business instincts, and the ability to apply common sense to both practical and theoretical advice.
  • Proven track record of forming and encouraging relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically, be a creative problem solver, have excellent business instincts, and drive to provide practical solutions.
  • A genuine desire to support, help develop, and instill confidence in other team members.
  • A positive, self-assured, and optimistic demeanor.

What We Offer

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $158,200 -- $303,400 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
