POSITION OVERVIEW

The role involves receiving, storing, distributing, and shipping materials efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine incoming shipments to confirm accuracy in descriptions and quantities.
  • Facilitate the loading and unloading of materials.
  • Utilize various material handling equipment for the movement of supplies.
  • Prepare, package, and dispatch materials to designated locations as necessary.
  • Manage inventory through a computerized control system for effective information access.
  • Conduct cleaning and maintenance tasks to uphold workplace standards.
  • Ensure the facility, equipment, and materials are maintained in an orderly and efficient condition.
  • Employ computer systems to input, organize, and retrieve data.
  • Carry out cycle counts of inventory.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in basic arithmetic operations including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Must successfully complete a physical examination and be capable of performing the physical demands of the role.
  • Basic keyboarding skills and familiarity with relevant warehousing software and hardware are required.
  • Ability to competently operate various mechanical equipment used in warehouse operations is essential.
  • A valid State of Illinois Driver's License is required.
  • Effective communication skills for transmitting written and verbal instructions are necessary.
  • Successful completion of applicable assessments is required.
  • Experience in operating forklift equipment is mandatory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while receiving, storing, and issuing materials, as well as walking and lifting items weighing up to 60 lbs and maneuvering materials up to 100 lbs.
  • Capability to push and pull equipment such as hand trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to climb ladders to access and place materials on shelves.
  • Physical agility to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl when handling materials.
  • Ability to reach for stock materials and handle them effectively.
  • Effective communication with supervisors and departments is required; must be able to hear instructions and equipment in operation.
  • Visual acuity is necessary for reviewing documents and locating materials.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Proficiency in operating mechanical equipment utilized in warehouse settings.
  • Strong counting and material checking abilities.
  • Clear communication skills are essential.
  • Experience with RFID, scan guns, and barcoding systems is preferred.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and various weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to extreme temperatures during dock operations.
  • Working conditions may include humidity and other atmospheric factors.

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED
  • Disposal equipment such as balers and compactors, as well as lifting devices like forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • RFID, scan gun, and barcoding technology.
