OBJECTIVE

To guide students in understanding and applying essential concepts, skills, and behaviors that foster the growth of competent, capable, and responsible individuals in society.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. At least a B.S. Degree in the relevant instructional area is mandatory.
  2. Certification from the Alabama State Department of Education in the relevant instructional area is essential.
  3. Must fulfill the "highly qualified" standards as stipulated by the federal education legislation.
  4. Must comply with the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure as outlined by the applicable child protection legislation.
  5. Alternative qualifications may be considered if deemed appropriate by the Board.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Comprehensive understanding of content, curriculum, methodologies, materials, and tools relevant to the assigned instructional specialty.
  2. Awareness of student academic development and growth pertinent to the assigned grade level.
  3. Familiarity with the school's educational programs aligned with its mission, objectives, and structure.
  4. Capability to integrate current research and theories into instructional practices.
  5. Ability to design and execute lessons tailored to the system and state educational standards, as well as the diverse needs and capabilities of students.
  6. Skill in establishing and nurturing effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  7. Proficient in both oral and written communication.
  8. Competence in utilizing and managing technology, including but not limited to email, internet resources, and office software.
  9. Physical education instructors must possess the necessary physical attributes to implement the curriculum effectively.
  10. Physical education roles may require the ability to demonstrate various athletic techniques at both introductory and advanced levels.
  11. Some physical education assignments may involve outdoor activities, necessitating appropriate attire and adaptation to environmental conditions.
  12. Physical and emotional capability to perform essential duties and navigate the instructional environment as needed.
  13. Understanding of the Board's policies and procedures, accessible through the school office and official website.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Evaluates student capabilities in relation to established educational goals and outcomes.
  2. Designs and implements an instructional program that addresses the unique needs and abilities of students, aligning with system and state educational standards.
  3. Creates and executes a diverse range of instructional strategies and activities that cater to the students' needs and strengths.
  4. Manages student behavior in the classroom and contributes to the overall management of student conduct throughout the school.
  5. Communicates instructional expectations and student progress to students and parents through written or verbal means.
  6. Continuously evaluates student performance and maintains necessary documentation for institutional and individual reporting.
  7. Collaborates with other educational personnel in the development of effective instructional goals, objectives, methods, and curriculum.
  8. Engages in professional development activities, including meetings and training sessions as required or assigned.
  9. Ensures that the classroom and instructional settings are inviting, safe, and conducive to learning.
  10. Maintains confidentiality regarding all student records, grades, and performance-related information.
  11. Holds a valid Alabama professional teaching certificate and is responsible for its renewal.
  12. Adheres to work schedules as determined by the immediate supervisor.
  13. Requests leave in accordance with Board policy and promptly reports absences.
  14. Performs other reasonable and job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

The terms of employment will align with the provisions outlined in the Board's Policy Manual and relevant legislation.

EVALUATION

Job performance will be assessed annually in accordance with the Board's evaluation policies for professional personnel.
