Job Summary

UBTA-UBET Communications, Inc is seeking a skilled Cable Installation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our installation team, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining Strata TV and high-speed broadband services to residential and business customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain cable connections from tap to customer equipment.
  • Provide customer education on installed equipment.
  • Identify cables, cable counts, and prepare groups and pairs for active service.
  • Transfer service from one cable, technology, or terminal to another.
  • Mount demarcation devices, electronics, and protectors at customer premises.
  • Diagnose and repair trouble in all types of cable, both aerial and buried, using various testing equipment.
  • Work with customers to install, test, and troubleshoot wiring, modems, routers, customer devices, WIFI networks, and extenders.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to company quality standards and confidentiality policies.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to customers.
  • Read, interpret, and follow customer service orders, trouble tickets, technical drawings, maps, blueprints, diagrams, etc.
  • Complete and submit all installation/repair documents and reports in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently in the field with little supervision.
  • Analytical skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work varying shifts and hours, including on-call, weekends, and holidays.
  • PC and networking skills, with the ability to learn and operate company-specific databases.
  • Ability to see and read reports, use computer and testing equipment, and identify correct color coding on cables.
  • Ability to hear well enough to communicate with customers and coworkers.
  • Standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling: Job requires these abilities 75-100% of the time.
  • Lifting, pulling, pushing: Must be able to lift and move 75 lbs.
  • Fingering, grasping, feeling: Must have dexterity to feel and sort small wires, and operate tools and equipment.

Education and Experience:

  • Two-year degree in telecom-related field or 1-year experience is preferred.
