Job Summary

The Labor Delivery Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients in the labor and delivery unit, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for mothers and newborns. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage patients in labor, including monitoring fetal heart rates and providing pain management
  • Collaborate with obstetricians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, promoting informed decision-making and empowerment
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and enhance the overall quality of care
  • Contribute to a culture of safety and quality, identifying and reporting concerns or near misses
Requirements
  • Texas or Compact State Nursing License RN required
  • BCLS Certification
  • NRP Certification (Chapters 1-9) within 3 months of hire or immediately with Newborn, Labor and Delivery/Antepartum experience
  • ACLS Certification within 6 months of hire or immediately if required at previous employer
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring through AWHONN within 6 months from finish of floor orientation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited Nursing Program preferred
  • Perinatal and neonatal healthcare experience preferred
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. course certification within 6 months of hire preferred
  • Lactation Educator or Consultant preferred
