Automation Control Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with the R&D Manager to design and implement sophisticated control systems for robotic arms and related electromechanical devices. This includes tasks such as motion control, servo tuning, and the development of dynamic models. Proficiency in modeling and simulations using MATLAB is essential, along with the deployment of software on real-time platforms.
Additional duties encompass the analysis of machine design related to controls and the selection of actuators, sensors, and other components pertinent to control systems. Occasional travel may be required within and outside the United States.Reporting Structure:
Reports directly to the Manager of Controls Engineering. No direct reports.
Essential Skills:
- Expertise in mathematical modeling and analytical techniques.
- Understanding of system dynamics and control theory.
- Experience in thermal modeling and analysis.
- Practical knowledge of control systems and tuning methodologies.
- Proficient in MATLAB for data analysis and control simulation.
- Familiarity with C and C++ programming for Linux and embedded systems.
- Basic experience in electronic circuit design, prototyping, and troubleshooting.
Desirable Skills:
- Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in electrical and electronic system design.
- Background in digital and analog circuit design, embedded systems, and interfacing with microcontrollers.
- Understanding of power electronics design and motion control.
- Familiarity with optical design and optoelectronic components, including laser diodes and photodiodes.
- Proficiency in design tools such as OrCAD, PADS, or similar.
- Hands-on lab skills, including soldering and reworking PCBAs.
Minimum Education Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, or a related engineering discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. A Master’s or Ph.D. in the same fields may substitute for experience with 0 to 1 year of relevant work experience.
