Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the R&D Manager to design and implement sophisticated control systems for robotic devices and related electromechanical systems. This includes tasks such as motion control, servo tuning, dynamic modeling, and conducting simulations using MATLAB, along with deploying software on real-time platforms.

Additional duties encompass the analysis of machine design related to controls and the selection of appropriate actuators, sensors, and other components integral to control systems. Occasional travel may be required.

Reporting Structure:
Reports directly to the Manager of Controls Engineering.

Essential Skills:
  • Proficient in mathematical modeling and analytical techniques.
  • Knowledgeable in system dynamics and control theory.
  • Experience in thermal modeling and analysis.
  • Practical experience with control systems and tuning processes.
  • Skilled in MATLAB for data analysis and control simulations.
  • Competent in C and C++ programming for Linux and embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with electronic circuit design, prototyping, and troubleshooting.

Additional Desirable Skills:
  • Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in electrical and electronic system design.
  • Background in digital and analog circuit design, embedded systems, and interfacing with microcontrollers.
  • Understanding of power electronics design and motion control.
  • Familiarity with optical design and optoelectronic components, including laser diodes and photodiodes.
  • Proficient in design tools such as OrCAD, PADS, or similar.
  • Practical lab skills, including component soldering and PCB rework.

Minimum Education Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, or a related engineering discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. A Master’s or Ph.D. in a similar field may be considered with 0 to 1 year of experience.
