The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Director to lead its Information Technology Department. As a key member of the District's leadership team, the IT Director will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to ensure the effective use of technology in support of the District's mission.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement strategic plans to align IT with the District's business objectives.
- Lead the IT Department in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with District leadership to identify and prioritize IT initiatives.
- Program Management
- Direct the development and implementation of major IT programs, including network operations, infrastructure, and project management.
- Lead the IT Department in the planning and execution of IT projects, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Technical Expertise
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the District's IT infrastructure and systems.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in the IT industry.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with District leadership, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Communicate IT plans, policies, and procedures to District staff and stakeholders.
- Education
- Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university majoring in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field.
- Experience
- Seven years of professional experience in information technology, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
- Substitution
- Graduate study in computer science or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.
- Full-time professional experience in information technology may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Promotional Requirement
- One year of service with the District as a Senior Desktop Engineer, Senior Network Engineer, Senior Systems Administrator, Senior Applications Developer, Senior Database Administrator, Senior Applications Administrator, Senior IT Security Administrator, or Senior Computer Systems Administrator.
- Civil service status in one of the foregoing classifications.
