Position Overview

Vaco is seeking a dedicated Accounting Specialist to join our Finance Department. This role is ideal for a proactive individual who demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative spirit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute accounts payable tasks, including invoice assessment, securing necessary approvals, general ledger coding, data entry, and payment processing.
  • Oversee compliance aspects related to accounts payable, such as W-9 forms and sales tax regulations.
  • Support the preparation of federal and state 1099-NEC/MISC documentation.
  • Assist with accounts receivable functions, encompassing data entry, billing, payment processing, and bank deposit preparation.
  • Track company credit card expenditures, gather supporting documentation, and manage credit card account payments.
  • Conduct monthly general ledger reviews and reconciliation for assigned accounts.
  • Help prepare documentation and workpapers for the annual financial audit.
  • Maintain organized records of financial documents, including vendor invoices, payments, and customer accounts receivable.
  • Manage office equipment leases, service agreements, and renewals.
  • Assist in ordering office supplies as needed.
  • Oversee the company’s document retention and off-site storage protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department team to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Deliver exceptional service and support to all stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation
  • Associate degree in accounting or finance; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience
  • At least five years of experience in general accounting or finance.
Skills and Competencies
  • Solid understanding of financial principles and concepts.
  • Proficient in accounting software, with experience in Sage 100 being a plus.
  • Strong skills in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with accounts payable and receivable cycles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and analysis tasks.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Team-oriented and self-motivated.
