Position Overview:

This role will function as the Financial Literacy Program Specialist for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County, focusing on the implementation of Financial Literacy initiatives tailored for the Soldier and Family Readiness Division. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering established financial education programs and activities, both on-site and in various community settings, in alignment with the strategic objectives of the Fort Drum Program Area.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Delivery (70%):

  • Utilize existing educational resources and materials to facilitate program activities.
  • Execute established financial literacy programs in collaboration with the Soldier and Family Readiness Division, covering topics such as credit management, budgeting, and home buying.
  • Provide personalized financial education and assist individuals in creating tailored budgets.
  • Develop educational content for newsletters and community outreach.
  • Support the implementation of financial literacy initiatives as identified in the program plan.
  • Occasionally design lesson plans under the guidance of the Fort Drum Issue Leader.
  • Engage in mass media efforts to promote financial literacy education.
  • Work collaboratively to enhance the acceptance and understanding of financial literacy programs among diverse audiences.

Program Evaluation (10%):

  • Conduct program evaluations to assess effectiveness and gather participant feedback.
  • Assist in analyzing program data to recommend improvements in offerings.
  • Communicate evaluation results to stakeholders as necessary.

Administrative Duties (20%):

  • Assist in planning and promoting major educational events and programs.
  • Identify program needs and recommend resources to the Fort Drum Issue Leader.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with community organizations and agencies.
  • Implement marketing strategies to enhance program visibility and engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Relevant experience in financial education or community outreach.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet travel requirements.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of personal finance, investment basics, and retirement planning.
  • Experience working with community organizations and resources.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations effectively.
