ROLE SUMMARY


The individual in this role will be tasked with constructing specialized HVAC systems within a workshop setting, leveraging expertise in equipment assembly, copper pipe manipulation, and soldering techniques, alongside a foundational understanding of refrigeration practices and sheet metal work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Constructing tailored equipment for designated projects.
  • Employing various hand tools and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and verbal directives to manipulate copper piping, solder components, and assemble HVAC units.
  • Fabricating metal components as necessary to support assemblies and create sheet metal parts when required.
  • Preparing and finishing components to ensure a polished, professional appearance.
  • Completing assembly and welding tasks for assigned projects punctually, maintaining high standards of quality and budget adherence.
  • Collaborating with colleagues from different trades as needed; performing additional trade tasks when required.
  • Executing fabrication tasks for assigned projects on schedule, ensuring quality and budget compliance.
  • Preparing for projects by reviewing project documentation, consulting with project managers and technicians, anticipating challenges, gathering materials, and coordinating efforts as necessary.
  • Maintaining tools and equipment through regular inspections and necessary maintenance.
  • Keeping the workspace organized, clean, and orderly.
  • Documenting work by completing necessary paperwork for each job, including daily logs, quality checks, and project files, ensuring timely submission to the next production stage.
  • Collaborating effectively with purchasing and inventory personnel to manage resources efficiently.
  • Identifying necessary parts for the construction, testing, and repair of equipment.
  • Assisting with general office and workshop initiatives to enhance business operations while managing costs and increasing revenue.
  • Working closely with project teams, offering technical guidance and status updates as required.
  • Communicating effectively with project managers and team members regarding project scope and timelines.
  • Participating in meetings with team members, clients, and management as necessary.
  • Adhering to company standards for construction and quality, including safety protocols.
  • Promoting safety practices among team members and subcontractors.
  • Providing technical support or training at client sites when necessary.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as required.
  • Flexibility to assist in other departments when needed.
  • Occasional travel may be required, including overnight stays.
  • Contributing ideas and initiatives for the refrigeration team.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE


A minimum of two years of experience in soldering copper and brass using various soldering methods, along with pipe fitting and bending experience is preferred.

EPA universal certification is preferred but not mandatory (must be obtained within six months of employment).

Proficiency in understanding and executing refrigerant documentation procedures as mandated by federal regulations is essential. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is advantageous.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to clients, customers, and colleagues.

MATH SKILLS

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to interpret graphical data.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and to manage various abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Valid driver's license is required; additional certifications (e.g., Certified Welder) are preferred.
