  • Surface Mining Permitting and Reclamation: Process surface mining permits and reclamation plans, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Geological Hazard Assessment: Conduct thorough geological hazard assessments, including seismic safety, slope stability, and open space elements, to inform comprehensive planning and development.
  • Technical Direction and Review: Provide technical direction and review geological hazard reports, soil conditions, and soils engineering in relation to private sewage disposal systems.
  • Grading and Building Plan Review: Review, evaluate, and field check grading and building plans for proposed developments, correlating them with geological studies and investigations to identify potential hazards.
  • Geological Consultation and Support: Provide legal assistance and serve as a consultant in geology to various departments, as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in geology or engineering geology from a recognized college.
  • Experience: Two years of professional engineering geology work, including analyzing and making recommendations for geological problems encountered in planning, design, and construction.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid California Driver's License, Professional Geologist license issued by the California State Board for Geologists and Geophysicists, and Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) certification.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Principles and practices of physical and historical geology, engineering geology, geological formations associated with seismic hazards, geology as applied to civil engineering, and survey, mapping, drafting, and photographic techniques.
