RN Emergency Care Specialist

UnityPoint Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. As an RN Emergency Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities
Collects current symptoms and patient history, consulting with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care and interventions.
Performs triage, considering physical and psychosocial elements.
Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the attending physician is available, based on nursing standards and protocol.
Initiates corrective action when information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
Records patients' current vital signs per standard.
Works directly with physicians, assisting during exams, diagnostic testing, and treatments.
Prepares and administers prescribed medications, recording them as needed.
Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with policy.
Provides IV therapy, cleans and bandages wounds, and provides basic bedside care.
Maintains proper supplies and medical equipment to care for patients.
Reports any suspected abuse to the appropriate agencies.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited nursing program and BSN degree.
One year of Emergency Department clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficiency.
Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
Basic Life Support certification prior to hire, with Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nurse Core Course certifications obtained within six months and one year of hire, respectively.
NIHSS education within 90 days of hire and maintained every two years thereafter.
Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
CPI/MOAB certification within the first six months of hire and maintained throughout employment.
