Overview:
The Parts Inventory Specialist is responsible for providing essential counter service to municipal personnel requiring parts and equipment for their operational tasks.
This role involves assisting with stock management, data entry within inventory systems, delivering customer support, and may occasionally require driving a company vehicle to retrieve parts.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver exceptional customer service, which includes but is not limited to the following:
- Strong attention to detail
- Familiarization with and adherence to company SOPs and Safety Guidelines.
- Welcoming and assisting customers
- Ensuring requisition forms are accurately completed (including signatures, timestamps, part numbers, descriptions, and quantities)
- Responding to inquiries regarding part availability
- Asking pertinent questions to guarantee accurate parts research and provision
- Notifying customers when requested parts are in stock
- Operate a vehicle to designated sites for purchasing or picking up parts
- Present necessary documentation to vendors (such as tax-exempt forms and credit references)
- Verify all invoices at vendor locations for pricing and quantity accuracy
- Timely return of products to the company location
- Assist in generating invoices for customer requisitions within the inventory system
- Aid in the entry of vendor receiving documents into the inventory system
- Participate in weekly inventory cycle counts
- Contribute to counts during comprehensive inventories at the site
- Adhere to established protocols for vehicle and equipment upkeep
- Provide 24-hour support at the city location during emergencies
- Travel to various locations for parts collection
- Assist with inventory research initiatives as needed
- Follow mandated procedures
- Operate a forklift
- Engage in the ongoing training program
- Support Store Supervisor tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
1 year of computer experience
Availability for 24-hour shifts
Valid Driver's License with a minimum of two years of driving experience
1 year of experience with automotive or heavy-duty truck parts
Must obtain and maintain a forklift certification
Physical Requirements:
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Essential Skills:
Driving, Lifting, Reaching, Sitting, Standing, Stooping, Walking
Work Environment:
Most tasks are performed in an office environment; however, some responsibilities may occur in storerooms and warehouses, which may have variable temperatures and conditions with dust and moisture. Travel to various sites in a vehicle will be necessary.
