Position Overview:
As a pivotal figure in the management of civil engineering operations, you will oversee the mechanical engineering functions associated with the maintenance and operational management of various systems. Your role will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the comprehensive operation and maintenance of all facilities, including athletic grounds.
- Be available for emergency response, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
- Conduct root cause analysis for mechanical failures to enhance reliability and performance.
- Develop and execute maintenance strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Maintain and update preventive maintenance schedules for all operational facilities.
- Manage ongoing projects, including renovations and repairs, ensuring timely completion.
- Participate in the selection process for design teams on new construction and renovation projects.
- Review and approve design specifications for capital projects.
- Support the Director in various departmental initiatives and policy development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and oversee the training and development of team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of engineering experience, or ten years for those with a technology degree.
- Fifteen years of leadership experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) designation.
- Master's degree in Engineering or an MBA.
- Experience in K-12 facility management.
Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of civil engineering practices and landscape management.
- Understanding of mechanical systems planning, construction, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with capital planning processes and public school construction laws.
- Ability to lead multiple project teams effectively.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Skilled in using MS Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform various physical tasks, including walking, standing, and lifting.
- Occasional climbing and kneeling may be required.
