Position Overview: Senior Civil Engineering Manager

Salary: $132,500.00

We are collaborating with a leading engineering design and consulting firm to identify a Senior Civil Engineering Manager. Below is the detailed description of the role.

Essential Qualifications for the Senior Civil Engineering Manager:

#1. Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.

#2. Minimum of 8 years in design and project management.

#3. Limited to 3 job changes in the past decade.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will possess expertise in civil engineering related to land development, infrastructure design, and the preparation of construction documents for various projects including roads, storm drainage systems, and utilities. This role encompasses design oversight, project management, client engagement, and leadership within a collaborative team environment.

  • Oversee design development, contract document preparation, cost estimations, and client relations while managing a diverse range of projects including commercial, residential, and public facilities.
  • Lead a dedicated engineering team, fostering staff development and strategic departmental growth.
  • Engage in business development activities to enhance the firm’s presence in the community, collaborating with corporate business development leaders.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through effective communication and design solutions that align with budgetary and timeline expectations.
  • Implement quality control measures for construction document preparation and design, including site layouts and grading plans.
  • Coordinate permitting submissions with relevant authorities.
  • Manage project proposals, contracts, scheduling, budgeting, and invoicing processes.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and leadership skills to interact professionally with clients, staff, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer registration is mandatory (preferably in North Carolina and South Carolina).
  • At least 8 years of relevant engineering design and project management experience.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment with the ability to manage multiple client demands.
  • Strong background in land development, site planning, and construction documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate with other department managers and professionals.
  • Prior experience in mentoring junior engineers and project managers.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other design software is preferred.
  • Proven business development and financial management skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory codes and technical specifications.
  • Experience with quality assurance and quality control programs.
  • Strong presentation skills for engaging with boards and commissions.
  • Must pass a drug screening and background check, with a clean driving record as per company policy.
