Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

MP Materials is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at our mining and processing site in Mountain Pass, California.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for managing and coordinating necessary repairs on all fixed assets site-wide in a safe and efficient manner to achieve established maintenance objectives within approved budgets, company guidelines, and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interface with various departments to successfully execute and close out projects while integrating them into existing operations
  • Organize and oversee the schedules and work of maintenance staff
  • Develop and implement maintenance policies and standards
  • Coordinate training sessions in facility maintenance, safety procedures, and methods
  • Communicate and track work orders and projects
  • Supervise construction contractors and design firms
  • Troubleshoot system problems and resolve by modification or replacement
  • Assist instrument techs, mechanics, electricians in troubleshooting and setup of equipment
  • Conduct performance evaluations and motivate maintenance personnel to accomplish company objectives
  • Plan and direct maintenance operations in a safe and efficient manner to ensure equipment operability levels to achieve plant production goals
  • Review maintenance activities and work performance to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state safety regulations
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in plant maintenance operations or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory or managerial experience required
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • High School Diploma
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree Preferred
  • Valid Driver's License and a good driving record are required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and SAP
  • Management skills, including recruiting, hiring, and developing team culture to maximize growth
  • Ability to work with all levels within the organization, including senior management
  • Ability to work with internal customers and external agencies for compliance and controls
  • Intermediate to advanced level of understanding of mechanical maintenance, knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Working Conditions:

The Maintenance Supervisor will work in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.

The employee is required to talk and hear, stand, use their hands and fingers to handle or feel, and manipulate laboratory equipment. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must pass a full-face respiratory fit test. Employee must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work in PPE level C.
