Job Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement HVAC refrigeration and airflow sub-systems that meet performance standards, sustainability targets, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and execute computer models to simulate and predict unit performance, ensuring optimal system design and efficiency.
  • Support the development of Design Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs) to identify and mitigate potential design flaws.
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and subsystems that leverage modular architecture and meet agency, code, structural, and serviceability requirements.
  • Incorporate Design For Manufacturing (DFM) features to support efficient factory build processes and minimize production costs.
  • Develop laboratory test plans and analyze test data, applying Six Sigma tools and statistical analysis techniques to ensure product reliability and quality.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to designers, lab technicians, and other team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Develop and/or update Trane purchased part Engineering Specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Define, identify, and complete appropriate qualification testing activities to ensure product readiness for market launch.
  • Prepare schedules, report status to leadership, and meet project milestones, ensuring timely and successful project delivery.
  • Effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers, documenting, reviewing, and prioritizing customer requirements to ensure product design and development aligns with customer needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with at least 5 years of engineering work experience.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or related field is a plus.
  • Experience with product design, bill of materials, engineering specifications, and product manufacturing.
  • Understanding of HVAC system functions, including refrigeration, heat transfer, airflow, and ventilation.
  • Experience with application of various components used within HVAC systems, such as coils, compressors, motors, and fans.
  • Understanding of statistics as applied to product reliability.
  • Good verbal communications skills and good technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Self-starter with a high energy level and a high commitment to career growth and development.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently understand, condense, and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a diverse team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation

Base Pay Range: $72,000 - $148,000 annually. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
