Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for diagnosing and treating patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests on patient specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
  • Analyze test results and prepare samples for further testing.
  • Calculate test findings and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare and validate solutions, reagents, media, stains, and other materials used in the testing process.
  • Process and test all types of laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
  • Review and report lab results to healthcare professionals.
  • Perform operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Act as a resource to other laboratory personnel, providing guidance and support as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent.
  • Prefer 6 months to 1 year of medical laboratory technologist or clinical laboratory scientist experience in an acute care facility.
  • Required: Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, or CSMLS within 12 months of hire).
  • Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES, or AICE for non-US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Licensure, as required by State.
