Mattoon CUSD #2 offers a position for a Food Service Worker Lead with a commitment of 29 hours per week. In this role, you will be instrumental in assisting with meal preparation, portioning, and serving to our valued customers. Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the daily preparation of food items, ensuring proper dating of products.
  • Coordinate the setup and breakdown of service stations as directed by management.
  • Prepare and cook food according to established recipes and guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate portion control during food preparation and service.
  • Maintain daily temperature logs for food safety compliance.
  • Conduct quality checks on food items prior to customer service.
  • Notify management of any food items that do not meet quality standards.
  • Complete opening and closing checklists for service stations.
  • Welcome customers as they approach and leave the serving area.
  • Gather feedback from customers regarding their service experience and address any concerns with a positive demeanor.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including all equipment and surfaces.
  • Ensure all work areas and utensils are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Manage waste disposal from the service line appropriately.
  • Transport supplies and equipment between storage and work areas as needed.
  • Participate in daily safety assessments and report any hazards to management promptly.
  • Cross-train in various roles as required.
  • Support catering, concessions, and special events as directed by management.
  • Complete tasks assigned by supervisors or management team members.
  • Lead and guide team members on the service line to ensure efficient and timely customer service.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory abilities.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively within a team.
  • ServSafe Certification is required.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Previous food service experience is preferred.
  • Physical capability to lift and transport hot food items regularly.
  • Willingness to work in a kitchen environment, managing exposure to heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals.

This position may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing. Uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
