Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at WMC Health. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements, as well as performing budget variance analysis and maintaining accurate general ledger account reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review multiple monthly and annual financial statements, participating in month-end financial close review meetings as required.
  • Maintain the integrity of all general ledger accounts, including Joint Ventures, if applicable.
  • Supervise day-to-day activities and approve work-papers completed by Staff Accountants.
  • Maintain accurate and timely general ledger and balance sheet audit worksheets for review by Director of Finance.
  • Book monthly journal entries, recurring and non-routine.
  • Assist Director of Finance in coordinating miscellaneous functions of the Accounting Department.
  • Responsible for internal and external reporting, including financial surveys, IRS forms, and cash receipts assessments.
  • Assist in annual budget and ICR preparation reporting as needed.
  • Compile supporting schedules for annual tax returns and ensure timely compliance and filing.
  • Act as liaison with outside audit firms and provide requested documentation.
  • Analyze monthly expense and FTE budget variances.
  • Monitor capital lease and debt obligations of the facility and reconcile related liability accounts.
  • Prepare and update schedule of Property, Plant, and Equipment acquisitions and disposals, and estimated depreciation calculations.
  • Maintain effective communications between hospital departments to ensure Finance-related issues are addressed.
  • Maintain facility financial information systems.
  • Recommend and develop processes for streamlining financial operations.
  • Annual filing of NYS Unclaimed Funds submission.
  • Reconciliation of cash receipts/disbursements on a daily basis.
  • Preparation of weekly cash disbursement outflow report.
Requirements
  • Solid accounting background with prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task, excellent organization and communication skills.
