Job Summary:

As a Surgical Technologist at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Operating Rooms. Your expertise will be essential in preparing patients for surgery, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Gather and prepare all necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments for surgical procedures.
  • Surgical Assistance: Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and handling instruments as needed.
  • Patient Care: Provide exceptional patient care, ensuring patients are comfortable and prepared for surgery.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure seamless execution of procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, ensuring it is in good working order.
Requirements:
  • Education: Graduate of a technical program for operating room technicians.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery - Certified - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Physical Demands: Constant use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors. Constant use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Constant lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching and gripping. Frequent use of clear vision at 20 inches or less. Frequent use of speech to share information through oral communication. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing over 50 lbs. Occasional use of clear vision at 20 feet or more. Occasional use of sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional keyboard use/data entry. Rare kneeling.
