Detention Deputy

Clear Creek County, Colorado seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Detention Deputy to ensure the safety and security of our detention facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for transporting inmates, acting as a court bailiff, supervising inmate workers, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce county laws, state and federal statutes, and maintain the security of the jail by ensuring all inmates are adequately confined.
- Monitor and inspect cellblocks to ensure security, book in and bond out prisoners as necessary, and maintain inmate cash accounts and records.
- Administer prescribed and non-prescribed drugs, log inmate information, and inspect cellblocks, kitchen, and work areas.
- Operate two-way radios, fingerprint machines, breath testing devices, computers, and other equipment as needed.
- Transport inmates to and from court, other penal institutions, or medical appointments, and record transportation transactions.
- Act as a court bailiff as required and may be called upon to testify in court or hearings.
- Supervise inmate workers during inside and outside work activities and maintain efficient recording keeping and filing systems.
- Prepare reports, collecting, compiling, and tabulating necessary data, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 21 years of age, with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Requires at least one year of law enforcement experience, with a valid Colorado Driver's License, CPR, and first aid certification.
- Colorado POST certification desired, with the ability to read, write, and speak English, Spanish, or other foreign languages.
This position involves working in a high-stress environment with potential exposure to biohazards, including blood-borne pathogens and airborne transmissions of TB. Members are required to use protective equipment and clothing, and may be required to show documentation of vaccinations.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesMay supervise actions of up to 12 inmate workers.
