Job Summary:

Clear Creek County, Colorado is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Detention Deputy to join our team. As a Detention Deputy, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the detentions facility, as well as transporting inmates to and from other detention facilities, acting as a court bailiff, and supervising inmate workers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce county laws, state and federal statutes, and maintain the security of the jail by ensuring all inmates are adequately confined.
  • Monitor and inspect all cellblocks to ensure security, book in and bond out prisoners as necessary, and maintain inmate cash accounts and records.
  • Administer prescribed and non-prescribed drugs, log all information regarding inmates, and inspect all cell blocks, kitchen, and work areas according to a predetermined schedule.
  • Operate two-way radios, fingerprint machines, breath testing devices, computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, and related equipment.
  • Transport inmates to and from court, other penal institutions, or medical appointments, and record all transportation transactions.
  • Act as a court bailiff as required, testify in court or hearings, and supervise inmate workers during inside and outside work activities.
  • Maintain efficient recording keeping and filing systems for the jail, prepare reports, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Requires at least one year of law enforcement experience.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License, CPR and first aid certification, and Colorado POST certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English, Spanish, or other foreign languages.
Working Conditions:

This position involves working in a high-stress environment with exposure to biohazards, including blood-borne pathogens and air-borne transmissions of TB. Members are required to use protective equipment and clothing, and may be required to receive inoculations to prevent or treat exposures.

Physical Demands:

This position requires standing, walking, running, and sitting for extended periods, as well as pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and feeling. The member must possess sufficient strength to carry a human being from a hazardous area and overcome and restrain a combative or resistive subject.
