Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and continuously monitor security conditions within Colombia and specific project areas through local media and safety reports, as well as information collected from field staff, teams, and local contacts.
  • Make recommendations to the Senior Manager regarding operations and security strategy of the program.
  • Support the assessment of security risks that may impact the movement of personnel and security in different parts of the country and communicate these risks in a timely manner to the Senior Manager.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of Security and Contingency plans.
  • Observe the program's operating environment, produce risk matrices, regularly update assessments, and support the development and updating of security procedures and plans, as required.
  • Collect and analyze security context information to guide and alert the Senior Manager of security risks and disruptions that affect the Program.
  • Constantly monitor the travel of staff and program consultants according to security policies and procedures.
  • Accompany staff in the field to support logistical and security issues at local and national level events, as required.
  • Maintain a list of staff contacts updated according to personnel movement and draft reports for the Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, Home Office, and Senior Manager.
  • Be an active participant in the Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, organizing and managing the emergency teams in the offices where the program operates.
  • Deploy locally and nationally as required to fulfill tasks assigned by the Senior Manager and/or Deputy Chief of Party.
  • Contribute to the logistical organization for maintaining the security of goods, services, and people in the operational environment.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Senior Manager or Deputy Chief of Party.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience.
  • Experience with security assessment, planning, and execution of security procedures of a program financed by international donors.
  • Proactive, systematic, highly organized, and capable of responsibly ensuring the safety of team members in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to advise and support staff in a consultative manner.
  • Must be reliable, flexible, and capable of adapting to abrupt changes in a short time frame.
  • Strong communication skills including proactive problem solving, a strong service orientation, and adaptation.
  • Must have a clean and valid driver's license record.
  • Must be medically fit to operate a vehicle and be able to lift packages up to twenty-five kilograms / fifty-five pounds.
  • Experience in the management of drivers preferred.
  • Travel as required.
  • Spoken and written English is preferred.
