At Refuge for Women, we are committed to providing specialized care for women who have escaped human trafficking or sexual exploitation. Our organization is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to fill the role of Development Director.

About the Position

The Development Director will play a key role in ensuring the long-term financial stability of our local program home. This position requires strong networking and professional communication skills, as well as the ability to handle changing priorities and challenges with courtesy and grace. As a representative of Refuge for Women, the Development Director must be committed to our values, mission, and vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure financial sustainability of local program operations through major donor acquisition, relationship management, and strategic plan development.
  • Work with the Advisory Board and Executive Director to develop and implement fundraising and communications plans.
  • Establish a Development Team to cultivate new major donors and prospects, including private receptions and dinners.
  • Cultivate and solicit gifts from major donors, with an emphasis on gifts $10,000 and higher.
  • Develop and manage a caseload of 50-75 assigned and qualified major donors, implementing personalized strategies and one-on-one solicitations.
  • Responsible for gift acknowledgement, stewardship communications, and proposals to present specific funding needs and opportunities.
Program and Site Launch Coordination
  • Responsible for annual budget planning and implementation within approved budget.
  • Develop community relationships for potential partnerships and professional services.
  • Participate in community awareness events related to survivor services and anti-trafficking.
  • Recruit key volunteers to mobilize as needed for events, administrative, and program support.

We estimate this role to earn between $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
