Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Underwriter to join our team at Truist. As a key member of our commercial banking team, you will be responsible for leading the commercial underwriting process, analyzing financial statements, and providing independent risk recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commercial underwriting process, including underwriting, structuring, and documenting transactions
  • Analyze financial statements, projections, and business plans to identify key risks and opportunities
  • Provide independent risk recommendations to senior management and clients
  • Manage a portfolio of complex clients, including leveraged profiles and sensitive relationships
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including credit risk managers and relationship managers
  • Develop and maintain industry expertise, including knowledge of market trends and business drivers
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field
  • At least 7+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis
  • Mastery level proficiency in MS Office Desktop applications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sound credit skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a similar role with a commercial financial institution
  • Industry or sub-sector expertise
  • Mastery of Truist Bank operating systems, including COMPASS and other commercial applications
