Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory seeks an accomplished Sous Chef to join our dynamic team. As a member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting exceptional dining experiences for our clients.
Job OverviewIn this role, you will work closely with our chefs to prepare hot and cold food, maintain kitchen equipment, and manage food preparation workflow. You will also provide support to the General Dining & Events Chef, including providing consumption information and input on seasonal cook staff performance.
Responsibilities- Prepare hot and cold food according to chef's instructions.
- Follow proper sanitation procedures and maintain cooking equipment.
- Manage food prep workload and provide purchasing information to the Purchasing Manager.
- Assist in supervising cook staff and stand in for chef during their absence.
- Interact with clients, colleagues, and supervisors in a courteous and professional manner.
The estimated hourly rate for this role is $22.12-$31.04, depending on experience and qualifications.
Qualifications- Culinary education or equivalent experience.
- Five years' experience in cooking, preferably in restaurants, catering, or hotels.
- Sanitation Certificate required.
- Proficiency in Spanish language is desirable.
