Job Summary

The Missouri Botanical Garden is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team in St. Louis. As a key member of our research group, you will participate in projects that focus on scientific exploration of plant life and science-driven approaches to conservation and restoration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent research and analyze data on the benefits of long-term monitoring in tropical restoration.
  • Collaborate with scientists from MBG, University of Minnesota, ETH Zurich, and The Nature Conservancy to synthesize long-term data on socio-ecological outcomes of tropical forest restoration projects.
  • Develop and lead research projects, including designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Communicate research findings to diverse audiences, including professional organizations, the general public, and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students, and attract new scientific collaborators and develop partnerships with organizations.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Restoration Ecology, Conservation Biology, Ecology, Plant Biology, or related discipline.
  • Strong background in one or more of the following fields: Restoration Ecology, Conservation Biology, Ecology, or related fields.
  • Prior experience conducting meta-analysis and data synthesis, writing scientific papers, managing databases, and interacting with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of time.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be based in St. Louis at the Missouri Botanical Garden, with opportunities to work outdoors in various weather conditions. The position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
