Service Manager 3 Job Description

The Service Manager 3 position at Holt CAT is a critical role responsible for the successful management of work performed in all areas of the service department. This includes medium-sized projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and effective use of Holt resources and enterprise collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hiring, Developing, and Evaluating Employees: Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team to ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service.
  • Leadership and Coaching: Model, promote, and reinforce Holt's Values-Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with the company's vision, values, and mission.
  • Service Operations Oversight: Direct and manage field and shop technicians throughout the service operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Subcontractor Management: Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure a long-term strategic focus on stability, employee satisfaction, personal development, and staff requirements.
  • Work Order Management: Implement and maintain an accurate, efficient, professional, and timely process for the work order system, ensuring all quoting, invoicing, monitoring, and reporting are performed to enhance the company's image and profitability.
  • Service Department Planning and Control: Plan, monitor, and control service department activities to ensure alignment with the company mission and core business values, achieving established store service objectives and business unit forecasts.
  • Resource Management: Manage, maintain, and develop physical and capital resources to ensure their optimal use in providing legendary customer service.
  • Collaboration with OEMs: Work directly with preferred OEMs to ensure productivity of parts, service, and technical needs.
  • Service Department Policies: Communicate, implement, and monitor service department policies to ensure a high level of consistency within the service division.
  • Safety and Compliance: Model, reinforce, and monitor safe work practices to reduce and/or eliminate work environment hazards and lost-time accidents.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of heavy equipment industry experience, with at least 3 years of management and coaching experience.
  • Crane Experience: Minimum 5 years of crane experience or ability to develop crane knowledge.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work on multiple projects, and think logically while interpreting and analyzing problems.

Travel and Physical Requirements: Up to 10% travel, including overnight stays, and occasional movement inside the office. Constant movement and use of limbs, with good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina required.

Work Environment: Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment, working at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions, and exposure to weather extremes, chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
