Our flexible work culture allows you to make a significant impact while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. We prioritize our clients' needs, guided by our core mission: "We Protect Those Who Protect Us." If you are looking to build a meaningful career, BAE Systems is the place for you.

As part of the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems team, you will contribute to the creation of systems that gather, manage, and disseminate crucial information to support military operations across diverse scenarios.

Join the Platform Engineering (PE) group at BAE Systems, where you will play a vital role in managing our on-premises Virtual Cloud Computing Center (VC3). We are seeking a dedicated Platform Operations Engineer to lead the automation of reliable, sustainable, and optimized services for both cloud and disconnected environments. Your contributions will enhance application security, scalability, and reliability across various security enclaves, supporting our Systems Engineering Digital Ecosystem. Your expertise in DevOps methodologies and tools will be crucial in streamlining processes, enhancing deployment efficiency, ensuring disaster recovery, and improving service effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ascertain infrastructure requirements and comprehend application necessities.
  • Develop and uphold CI/CD pipelines for seamless application deployment and continuous integration utilizing industry-standard tools and frameworks.
  • Engage in closed area environments to deploy tools and instruct administrators on support and operational tasks.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring through tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar technologies.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and implement enhancements to boost system availability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Implement security protocols and best practices to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and applications.
  • Diagnose and resolve production incidents related to infrastructure, networking, and application deployment promptly.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in DevOps to continuously enhance infrastructure and development processes.
The ideal candidate will exhibit technical proficiency, strong troubleshooting capabilities, a desire to learn, and a customer-centric approach. A successful track record in delivering high-quality services within a cloud ecosystem is essential, along with the ability to navigate a fast-paced, dynamic environment. A solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and the capacity to bridge development and operations is crucial. We are committed to investing in our professionals, offering training opportunities to sharpen skills and maintain cutting-edge knowledge.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to obtain a Security+ or equivalent certification within six months of employment.
  • Demonstrated experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a comparable role.
  • Familiarity with on-premises cloud infrastructure technologies, such as OpenStack, VMware, or Azure Stack.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Kubernetes and Docker) and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Rancher and Docker Swarm).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of automation toolkits such as Ansible, Terraform, or Packer.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab and a solid understanding of version control and git workflows.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and firewall configuration.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and frameworks (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, ELK stack).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
