Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking an experienced Assistant Director to lead the procurement of Electric Multiple Unit (EMU), Locomotive, and Coach programs. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction and oversight to ensure that Metro-North's requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead the procurement process for rolling stock equipment, including design and commercial aspects.
  • Coordinate efforts with Mechanical, Transportation, and support departments to ensure successful project execution.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to senior and equipment engineers.
  • Administer projects, including payment, compliance, and completion.
  • Review consultant-prepared plans and specifications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of experience in passenger railcar/locomotive design and/or maintenance environment.
  • Master's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in passenger railcar/locomotive design and/or maintenance environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing staff, processes, and/or projects.
  • Specialized technical knowledge, including shop operations, methods, and procedures; equipment operations, electrical theory AC/DC; electronic theory, and electro-mechanical problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Metro-North Railroad operations and its corporate structure.
