Position Overview

Inland Counties Legal Services is on the lookout for a dedicated Staff Attorney to enhance our Elder Law Team. As a nonprofit entity, we are committed to delivering legal assistance to low-income individuals residing in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, with a focus on seniors and those facing significant social and economic challenges.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver legal services to seniors aged 60 and above within our service area, ensuring they receive the support they need.
  • Engage with clients through various channels, including remote consultations, in-person meetings at our offices, and visits to senior centers across the counties.
  • Offer comprehensive legal assistance, which may involve court representation and other legal proceedings.
  • Conduct community outreach and educational activities, both virtually and in-person, to empower seniors with knowledge about their legal rights.
  • Maintain a manageable caseload while collaborating with fellow attorneys and paralegals on complex cases.
  • Keep accurate records for each case, including client files, time logs, and billing information for funders.
  • Perform administrative duties related to service delivery and program evaluation.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment, working alongside attorneys, paralegals, support staff, volunteers, and students.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree and active membership in the California Bar.
  • Experience in Elder Abuse, Estate Planning, and Consumer Law is advantageous.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and a commitment to serving diverse populations.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's license and willingness to travel for outreach and client meetings.
  • Demonstrated humility and respect for diversity, including various backgrounds and identities.
  • Prior experience working with low-income clients is preferred.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and passionate about public service, with a sensitivity to clients in crisis.
  • Familiarity with legal issues affecting underserved communities and experience with organizations serving low-income populations.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $78,000 and $115,000 annually, depending on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and a matching 401K retirement plan.
