JOB DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of the Streets Foreman, this role involves operating heavy machinery to support the department's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a clean driving record for the past three years.
  • Utilize exceptional customer service skills to foster effective working relationships with colleagues, officials, and the public.
  • Operate dump trucks for transporting materials such as asphalt, dirt, and other designated substances.
  • Engage in street paving tasks, including the spreading and compacting of hot mix asphalt.
  • Assist in maintaining dirt roads and perform cleaning duties for storm drains and ditches.
  • Handle various types of equipment including snow control machinery, rollers, and loaders.
  • Conduct minor maintenance on equipment and vehicles, ensuring operational efficiency.

Attendance at work is a critical aspect of this position.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Support in setting up and cleaning job sites, including managing traffic control devices and removing debris.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position adheres to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy, which includes various testing protocols.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in a related construction field is preferred.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement.
  • Ability to operate city trucks and various construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and construction site safety protocols.
  • Willingness to be on call and respond promptly when needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical requirements for this role include the ability to lift and move heavy objects, operate machinery, and work in various weather conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees will frequently work outdoors and may encounter exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, and various environmental conditions.
