Position Overview

The Site Safety Manager plays a critical role in assisting, planning, and executing safety policies and procedures in alignment with Kenco's Safety Philosophy. This position ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including but not limited to OSHA and DOT.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with operational teams to foster support and disseminate information regarding safety initiatives while establishing clear expectations and timelines.
  2. Facilitate the execution of corporate safety initiatives, strategic objectives, and policies to guarantee compliance and standardization.
  3. Conduct comprehensive audits of the facility to verify adherence to OSHA and internal safety requirements, including safety audits of maintenance procedures, fire safety equipment, powered industrial equipment, and overall site conditions.
  4. Work in partnership with teams to enhance safety efforts through the development of a comprehensive site safety program.
  5. Coordinate safety training requirements and processes in conjunction with corporate guidelines to ensure all regulatory requirements are fulfilled.
  6. Establish systems to promote the sharing of safety Best Practices within the site.
  7. Maintain necessary governmental reporting documents and oversee safety data required by state and federal agencies.
  8. Support investigations into accidents, environmental incidents, and near-misses, ensuring thorough root-cause analysis and identification of corrective actions.
  9. Engage with local regulatory bodies (OSHA, DOT) during audits and inspections, providing support for follow-up and resolution.
  10. Drive accountability for safety practices at all levels of site leadership.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience, including at least 3 years in warehousing or distribution environments. Certifications such as CSP or CSHM are preferred.

Strong knowledge of federal, state, OSHA, and EPA regulations is essential, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational abilities, the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and the ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.

Competencies

Successful candidates will exhibit strong business acumen, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage transitions and changes efficiently. Building and maintaining relationships with internal partners is crucial for achieving organizational objectives.

Travel Requirements

This position may require travel of approximately 25% or less.
