About the Role:

The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant plays a vital role in the Surgery Services nursing unit at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center. As a cooperative member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, this position performs basic patient care tasks, ensuring a safe, clean working environment for all patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform activities as identified on the Perioperative Patient Care Assistant competency checklist while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and privacy.
  • Participate as a member of the healthcare team, consistently applying infection control policies and procedures.
  • Attend department-specific staff meetings, in-services, education, and training.
  • Participate in selected department-specific Performance Improvement Projects.

Requirements:

  • Prior work experience in an acute hospital setting is preferred.
  • Must have basic knowledge of standard perioperative care procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is recommended.
