Position Summary
This role involves supporting project managers and engineers in delivering forensic consulting services that require expertise in civil and structural engineering for various clients, including those in the insurance and legal sectors. You will work under the mentorship of a senior engineer to collect field data, conduct inspections, document site conditions, and analyze relevant information to identify the causes and origins of structural failures and construction defects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct forensic investigations in civil and structural engineering as per the defined scope of work and budget agreed upon with clients.
- Analyze and determine the origins of claims related to moisture intrusion, roof damage, and structural integrity.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients.
- Review and assess design modifications and field engineering adjustments during construction.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
- E.I.T. certification is mandatory.
- 0-4 years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail, capable of identifying problems, gathering data, and drawing logical conclusions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adept at engaging with clients across various levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Work Environment and Requirements
This position involves a mix of office work and field assignments at various locations, including industrial and residential sites. The role requires physical activity, including climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Employees must maintain focus and alertness during site inspections and client interactions.
