Job Summary

The Student Support Specialist at Happy Hall Schools is a key member of our after-school team, providing dedicated 1-on-1 care and behavioral support for a specific child with unique challenges. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in need of extra guidance and support, especially in a group setting, and will work to help them navigate social interactions and manage behavior in a positive way.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct 1-on-1 care for an assigned child with behavioral challenges, ensuring their safety and emotional well-being.
  • Mitigate behavioral challenges, helping the child interact positively with peers and participate in group activities.
  • Collaborate with site staff to implement and support behavior intervention strategies.
  • Attend school district trainings as needed to stay current with behavioral management techniques and protocols.
  • Assist the child in engaging with activities and maintaining group rules.
  • Facilitate social interactions and problem-solving with other children.
  • Work closely with the site director, school staff, and families to ensure consistent support for the child's development.
  • Maintain open lines of communication, providing feedback and updates on the child's progress to both the site director and child's family.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 18 years of age or high school graduate.
  • Minimum 1 year of working with children.
  • Background in ABA or behavioral therapy techniques highly prioritized.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for helping children grow and thrive.
  • Experience with behavior intervention strategies or a willingness to learn.
