We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Physical Services Operations to lead our Department of Physical Services at the Illinois Secretary of State. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of our state-owned properties, including the Capitol Complex and other facilities throughout the state.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Planning and Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure the effective management of our physical services, including property maintenance, construction, and engineering projects.
- Operational Management: Supervise and direct the activities of our Physical Services divisions, including Administrative, Custodial/Special Events, Mailing and Shipping, Warehouse, Planning and Development, Construction and Maintenance, and Engineering.
- Public Relations and Personnel Management: Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including employees, vendors, and government agencies, while ensuring effective personnel management and budgetary control.
- Program Coordination and Problem-Solving: Collaborate with other departments to coordinate program activities and resolve administrative or operational problems.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Formulate and implement policies and procedures for the department, ensuring compliance with state regulations and best practices.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, facilities management, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience in managing large operations, with 4 years of experience in the construction and maintenance field.
- Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage budgets, and coordinate program activities.
