CAT Scan Technologist Staten Island/Outerbridge

We are seeking a highly skilled CAT Scan Technologist to join our team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As a CAT Scan Technologist, you will be responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic and CT procedures.
Utilizing computerized tomography (CT) scanners, you will produce cross-section images of patients' internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. You will accurately interpret physicians' scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform radiographic and CT procedures as prescribed by physicians
- Utilize CT scanners to produce cross-section images of patients' internal organs and tissues
- Accurately interpret physicians' scanning instructions and administer contrast materials
- Prepare and operate CT scan equipment and position patients for imaging
- Follow departmental HIS/RIS system procedures and protocol to ensure orders are verified and processed correctly
- Effectively assess patients' information and status, and follow appropriate procedure(s) accordingly
- Use standard procedures to identify the correct patient and review patients' requisitions to understand the type of exam required
- Consult policy and procedure manuals and/or other reference materials as necessary to ensure actions conform to established protocols
- Recognize need for and follow isolation precautions
- Independently implement patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards
- Explain procedures and equipment to patients clearly and solve problems that arise during patient examinations
- Alter examinations to maximize information in response to patients' condition and confer with other technologists concerning previous approaches utilized
- Demonstrate skill in equipment set-up, utilization, and proper maintenance procedure
- Perform visual and manual quality control checks of radiographic equipment
- Use imaging and peripheral equipment in a safe and productive manner in accordance with prescribed hospital, departmental, and manufacturers' procedures
- Observe and report any malfunctioning of equipment and notify appropriate persons in case of missing or damaged equipment
Requirements:
- Technical Diploma from an AMA-approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services
- New York State Radiologic Technologist License
- Advanced Certification in CT required within one (1) year of Hire or transfer
- New York State Department of Health IV Contrast Injection Certification, (Part 89-Section required within one (1) year of Hire or transfer
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
